In a major international breakthrough, Saudi Arabian authorities have arrested two women believed to be the wife and mother of Ado Aliero, one of Nigeria’s most wanted bandit leaders.

The suspects were captured in the holy city of Medina, where they had reportedly been living under false identities. Their arrest follows a joint intelligence-driven operation coordinated between Saudi and Nigerian security forces.

“This is a major step in dismantling the support network surrounding Ado Aliero,” a security source told ABC News. “Their arrest may provide crucial intelligence about his movements, financial links, and transnational operations.”

Aliero is infamous for spearheading a brutal campaign of violence across Zamfara State and the wider North-West region of Nigeria. He has been linked to mass kidnappings, killings, and armed raids, evading capture through an extensive network believed to stretch across borders.

While Saudi officials have yet to publicly confirm the women’s identities, Nigerian intelligence sources say both detainees are considered high-value individuals in the ongoing probe into insurgency financing and logistical support.

“This development introduces an international dimension to Nigeria’s security challenges,” said an anonymous counterterrorism analyst. “It raises serious concerns about the global reach of these domestic terror cells.”

Nigerian and Saudi authorities are reportedly intensifying their collaboration, with hopes that intelligence gathered from the arrests could deal a significant blow to Aliero’s operations.
