By Sadiq Aminu.                                                           ‎The House of Representatives Committee on FCT Area Councils and Ancillary Matters has summoned the Minister of State for FCT, Dr Mariya Bunkure to appear before it on Tuesday May 27 2025.

‎ The Chairman of the Committee Fredrick Agbedi gave the directive following the failure of the Minister to honor the Committee’s invitation and only three out of the 14 agencies under her supervision, appeared before the committee.

‎ Mr. Agbedi who frowned at the failure of the Minister to appear before the Committee warned that the parliament would invoke its parliamentary powers against the Minister if she fails to appear on Tuesday.

‎ According to Mr. Agbedi, the Minister was duly invited and notified of the meeting together with the Agencies under her jurisdiction
‎ He reminded the Minister that the parliament and indeed the committee represent the indigents and residents of the FCT.

‎ “As a committee, we touch on the fabrics of the people of FCT because we directly with the people.
‎ “This committee is very very important to the people of FCT,”
‎ The lawmaker however called on President Tinubu to ensure that something was done urgently on the recurring attitude of some cabinet members.

‎ Earlier, a member of the Committee Paul Kalejaye, described the Minister’s absence as a affront on the parliament.
‎ Mr. Kalejaye warned that they had constitutional powers to ensure compliance with constitutional provisions.

‎The Minister of State FCT Dr. Mariya Bunkure had failed to honour invitation by the committee for budget session on FCT budget.
