SENATOR LADO ORGANIZES QURANIC RECITATION COMPETITION IN MEMORY OF PRESIDENT TINUBU’S LATE MOTHER 27-05-25

The Office of the Special Adviser to the President on Senate Matters has announced the Abibatu Mogaji Tinubu Memorial Qur’anic Recitation Competition in Kano, a tribute to the late Alhaja Abibat Mogaji Tinubu, a mother, matriarch, and towering figure in Nigerian commerce and Islamic devotion.
Senator Bashir Lado, said the competition, which started on April 21st, 2025, has drawn over 4,400 young male and female Qur’an reciters from across Kano State’s 44 Local Government Areas.
He said the competition is divided into five categories of recitation, namely: Juz 2, Juz 10, Juz 20, Juz 40, and Juz 60. Over 440 contestants have advanced to the zonal stages, with 150 state-level finalists, comprising 75 males and 75 females, competing in the final stages.
Lado further stated that the Grand Finale is scheduled to hold on Saturday, May 31st, 2025, at Meena Events Center, Kano State.
He said the competition features renowned judges and scholars from Algeria and Al-Azhar University, one of the oldest and most prestigious Islamic universities in the world.
He maintained that their presence speaks the global significance and credibility of the competition.
“Kano State was chosen as the host location due to its reputation as a beacon of Islamic learning and Qur’anic excellence. ”
“The state has produced globally celebrated Qur’an reciters, including Gwani Hafiz Mohamed Danbirni and Gwani Mohamed Sani Lawan.”
“The competition is a celebration of motherhood, faith, and legacy, aiming to inspire a revival of learning, unity, and spiritual excellence across Nigeria.”
Senator Basheer Lado, added that the initiative is in Honor of Alhaja Abibat Mogaji Tinubu’s life, defined by her devotion to Islam and her impact on commerce.
