Wike Vows to Lead PDP’s 2027 Campaign: ‘No One Can Chase Me Out of the Party’”

By: Safiya Abdulrahim Dabban

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has boldly declared his intention to spearhead the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) campaign for the 2027 presidential election.

Speaking during a media parley in Abuja on Monday, Wike responded to accusations of disloyalty for serving in President Bola Tinubu’s cabinet—despite Tinubu being a member of the opposing All Progressives Congress (APC).

“I am still in PDP. I worked hard for the party,” Wike stated firmly. “No one has the guts to tell me I’m not a member. Who contributed more than I have?”

The former Rivers State governor emphasized his continued loyalty to the PDP, even revealing plans to lead the party’s campaign efforts in Rivers State come 2027.

Wike’s remarks come amid growing tension within the PDP, with some members accusing him of betraying the party. But the FCT Minister remained unapologetic, highlighting his record and his penchant for challenging the status quo.

“FCT is working now because I do what others were afraid to do. I take joy in stepping on the toes of powerful people who think nothing can happen. I show them something will,” he said.

Addressing the ongoing political unrest in Rivers State, Wike denied having a personal rift with Governor Siminalayi Fubara and said he would have opposed any move to declare a state of emergency if consulted by President Tinubu.

“I don’t have a crisis with Fubara. If the President had consulted me, I would’ve advised against the emergency declaration,” he concluded.
