DELTA STATE GOVERNOR VOWS TO SACK COMMISSIONERS THAT ARE NOT PERFORMING TO EXPECTATION IN HIS ADMINISTRATION. 02-06-25
By Sadiq Aminu Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, has vowed to sack commissioners that are not performing to expection in his administration.
The Governor stated this in Asaba during the inauguration of eight units of four- bedroom duplexes built by his administration to accommodate some commissioners living in either rented apartments or their personal houses.
Governor Oborevwori hinted that there had been growing rumour that he was planning to reshuffle his cabinet after two years in office which he said did not originate from him.
He said three of his commissioners whose impacts were not been felt in government, would have their appointment terminated while those who were performing well would continue in office.
Governor Oborevwori stated, ‘You know there are a lot of rumours saying the Governor wants to dissolve the Exco. These people haven’t even heard from me; this just shows that people like too much talk”.
“If you are not performing, we will drop you, and that will not affect other people. If you are performing, you will stay. Like now, two or three people are not performing. I told one of them today at the chapel, you are not doing well”
“If there is a problem in any ministry, hold the commissioner responsible. Any ministry that is doing very well shows that the commissioner is doing very well.
The Delta State Governor said the construction of additional eight units of four-bedroom duplexes at the Commissioners Quarters was executed by his administration as the existing twenty two units of houses at the quarters had become inadequate.
”We are here to commission eight units of four-bedroom duplexes, each with two boys’ quarters attached. We decided to build these because, when we came in, we discovered that there were only 22 buildings here at the Commissioners’ Quarters, and the number of commissioners is more than 22”.
“So, there was no way we could accommodate all of them, which led us to this decision. This is a demonstration of our commitment to the well-being of top government functionaries.”
The Dean of Commissioners and Commissioner for Finance, Chief Fidelis Tilije, thanked Governor Oborevwori for approving the construction of the new residential quarters and appealed for the renovation of the 22 old housing units in the commissioners quarters.
Delta State Commissioner for Housing, Goodknows Angele who remarked that the administration of Governor Oborevwori had recorded imoressive performance especially in housing, and road infrastructure said the housing units project was awarded last year to a contractor following the approval of the contract by the State Executive Council..
