FG TO BEGIN MAJOR ROAD, RAILWAY PROJECTS IN SOME NORTHERN STATES, SAYS MATAWALLE 11-06-25
By Sadiq Aminu The Minister of State for Defence, Dr. Mohammed Bello Matawalle, has disclosed that the Federal Government will soon commence major infrastructure projects in Zamfara and other North-West region states, under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
He made this known while Speaking at a public gathering in Maradun Local government area of Zamfara State.
Dr Matawalle explained that the Federal Government will soon commence road construction from Mayanchi to Zuru, linking to Sokoto State, as well as from Gusau to Shinkafi into Sokoto.
“Road construction projects are soon to commence along several key routes, including from Gusau to Kaura Namoda and onward to Isa, as well as from Kaura Namoda to Katsina. Additionally, work will begin on the Zaria to Hunkuyi road, which links to Katsina State.”
He further revealed that a railway project from Zaria to Sokoto and Illela is also in the pipeline, stressing that, all the projects have been captured in President Tinubu’s national development agenda.
Dr. Matawalle also expressed satisfaction with the ongoing construction of the Zaria–Gusau–Sokoto dual carriageway, describing it as one of the most important projects to ease transportation and boost economic activities in the region.
“I was amazed during my recent trip from Sokoto to Zamfara. The road being constructed by the Federal Government is of high quality—with a concrete thickness of nearly 9 centimeters. I’ve never seen this level of road development before,”
He commended the administration for its accelerated infrastructure drive, particularly in rural and underdeveloped areas.“
Dr Matawalle emphasized that, the cabinet under President Bola Tinubu are working tirelessly to ensure meaningful development across the country.
The Minister called on the people of Zamfara and the North-West to continue supporting the Tinubu-led administration, assuring them of more developmental strides.
On the issue of Security, Dr Bello Matawalle also alleged that, Governor Dauda Lawal had deliberately refusing to support efforts to ending banditry and other criminal activities in the state.
He said whatever the federal government is doing on the issue of insecurity, it need the support of the state government.
According to Matawalle, the federal government had significantly boosted the morale and capacity of military personnel by equipping them with all the necessary weapons to defeat bandits before the end of 2025, as directed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
He however assured that, farmers would fully regain access to their farmlands for the 2025 planting season.
