DEPUTY SPEAKER OF THE ANAMBRA STATE HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY, SAYS JUNE 12 SYMBOLIZES THE ENSURING STRENGTH of DEMOCRACY IN NIGERIA 11-06-25
By Sadiq Aminu The Deputy Speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Chief Chukwuma Okoye says June 12 was a day that symbolized the enduring strength of democracy in Nigeria.
He stated this in Awka while reflecting on the performance of the 8th Anambra State House of Assembly.
According to him, the past year had been one of dedication, learning, and legislative advancement.
He noted that the 8th Assembly has demonstrated uncommon unity, discipline, and commitment to the democratic mandate entrusted to them by the people.
Chief Okoye said the present legislature has passed laws and motions that directly touched on critical sectors like education, infrastructure, health, security, and youth empowerment.
Chief Okoye noted that they had maintained robust oversight over executive actions to ensure that government policies are people-driven and impactful.
The Deputy Speaker said he is proud of the level of cooperation and maturity that exists among the law makers as they have elevated the legislative process beyond partisanship and personal interest, putting the people first in all they do.
The Deputy Speaker who is representing Awka South Constituency 2 said looking ahead, the next two years offer a chance to consolidate and scale the legislative achievements.
” We intend to strengthen our legislative footprint through bills that promote innovation, digital economy, and inclusive governance. Our commitment to transparency, accountability, and stakeholder engagement will remain unwavering. I will continue to work closely with the Rt. Hon. Speaker and all members to deepen the integrity and productivity of our Assembly”.
He reiterated that the challenges are many but the resolve is stronger as the Assembly recognizes that true democracy is not merely about elections but about sustained service, dialogue, and delivery.
The Deputy Speaker of the state Assembly said Anambra people deserve responsive leadership, and that the 8th Assembly is committed to giving them just that.
” We will continue to listen, to act, and to legislate in the best interest of all.The 8th Assembly is not just a legislative body; it is a vehicle for progress and a voice for the voiceless.
