NYSC MEMBERS ADVISED TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF OPPORTUNITIES IN THEIR HOST COMMUNITIES TO MAXIMIZE THEIR SKILLS AND TALENTS                                                           13-06-25

By Sadiq Aminu                                                         Members of the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC have been advised to take advantage of opportunities in their host communities to maximize their skills and talents and give back to the communities.

The Governor of Kwara State, Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, gave this advice in an address during the swearing-in ceremony of the 2025 Batch ‘A’ Stream 2 Orientation Course at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Yikpata, Edu Local Government Area.

Governor Abdulrazaq, represented by the State Commissioner for Youth Development and Chairman of the NYSC Governing Board, Alhaji Shehu Ndanusa, charged the youths to remain in high spirits throughout the orientation course and their service year.

He assured them of the readiness of his administration to offer them all necessary support and assistance, especially in the areas of welfare and security.

The Governor commended their predecessors for leaving lasting legacies behind in their various host communities and charged the serving youths to make patriotism, humility, discipline, and commitment their watchwords.

In a welcome address, Kwara State NYSC Coordinator, Mr. Olaoluwa Onifade, commended the Kwara State government for its quick response in carrying out repairs after a rainstorm wreaked havoc on the camp during the last orientation course.

Mr. Onifade also informed that a detachment of corps members from Lagos State had been relocated to the state orientation camp for the three-week exercise, after which they would return to Lagos to continue their primary assignments.

He explained that the arrangement was in line with the call for the urgent upgrading of the camp to accommodate Five thousand (5,000) participants, as prescribed by President Bola Tinubu.

The NYSC Coordinator appealed to all corps employers to improve the welfare of corps members serving in their organizations.

At the close of the registration exercise, a total of Two thousand, five hundred (2,500) youths, comprising One thousand, two hundred (1,200) males and One thousand, two hundred and ninety-two (1,294) females, including those dislodged from Lagos State, were sworn in by the Chief Judge of Kwara State, Justice Abiodun Adebara, represented by Justice Sulaiman Akanbi of the State High Court.
