COLLEGE OF EDUCATION ACADEMIC STAFF UNION DISOWNS ASUU MEMBERS                                                                                                                 17-06-25

By Sadiq Aminu                                                      The College of Education Academic Staff Union at the recently upgraded Kano University of Education has disowned some academic staff members who claim to be members of the Academic Staff Union (ASU).

The Chairman of the institution, Ado Muhammad Abdullahi, disclosed while briefing journalist in Kano.

He described the ASU members as “aliens” and stated that they are not recognized by the university.

Abdullahi said that the so-called ASUU members have been serially forewarned to stop their activities, but they have refused to comply.

He added that the allegations made by these individuals against the Chairman of the Governing Council and the Acting Vice Chancellor are baseless and unfounded.

“The ASU members have written a petition to the Minister of Education, seeking the removal of the Chairman of the Governing Council and the Acting Vice Chancellor.”

However, Abdullahi said that the allegations made in the petition are lies and cannot be verified.

The COEASU Chairman described the ASUU members as troublemakers who have been causing problems for the institution for many years.

He said that the institution has taken it upon itself to ensure that they face the wrath of the law, but instead of taking them to court, the management will punish them according to the institution’s rules and regulations.

Abdullahi explained that the institution is yet to receive ASUU accreditation because it has not met the requirements of a university, despite being given the title.

“the union is yet to consider the institution for accreditation.”
