JAMB TO SANCTION 11 CBT CENTRES GUILTY OF FINGER PRINT IRREGULARITIES DURING THE 2025 UTME EXAMINATION                                                                                               17-06-25

By Sadiq Aminu.                                                      The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has recommended stringent sanctions for 11 Computer‑Based Test (CBT) centres found guilty of finger print irregularities during the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) examination.

The JAMB Registrar, Professor Ishaq Oloyede made this known in Abuja during a meeting with stakeholders on examination infractions which also had in attendance affected CBT centre operators and students.

He said the penalties, which still required the approval of the Minister of Education, Dr. Olatunji Alausa, were intended to protect the integrity of the examination process.

Professor Oloyede explained that among the recommendations were that
any registrant who registered more than 50 candidates (with infractions) should be dismissed from participating in any examination of the Board and sister agencies for three years.

Also, others who have registered less than 50 would be warned and required to write a letter of apology to the Board after issuing a bond, indicating that they would not be involved in such acts again.

The Registrar of JAMB further stated that the Board would not entertain any infraction from the affected centres in the future in spite of their claim of ignorance.

One of the stakeholders at the meeting and former Lagos Commissioner of Police, Fatai Owoseni, said the actions of the affected registrants warrant prosecution and possible jail term.

However,Owoseni appealed to JAMB to pardon the offenders and suggested they be allowed to sign a bond of good behaviour.

The affected candidates and some CBT center operators who confessed to engaging in the act due to ignorance and the desire to register more candidates, appealed for forgiveness.
