Ali Bukar-Dalori has assumed office as the acting National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), following the resignation of Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.
Dalori’s appointment was confirmed during a meeting of the APC National Working Committee (NWC), where the party’s National Secretary, Senator Suraj Ajibola, formally presented Ganduje’s resignation letter. The NWC accepted the resignation and, in line with Article 14 of the APC constitution, approved Dalori—who was Deputy National Chairman—as the acting National Chairman pending ratification by the National Executive Committee (NEC).
In his remarks, Dalori urged party members to remain united and focused during the leadership transition, emphasizing that his appointment was not a personal victory but a call to collective responsibility.
“This is a period for consolidation, not conflict; for maturity, not division; and for vision, not personal ambition,” Dalori said.
He commended Ganduje for his leadership, noting that since August 2023, the former chairman provided experienced guidance and a clear direction for the party.
Dalori pledged to carry out his responsibilities with transparency, inclusiveness, and a commitment to unity. He called on party stakeholders to focus on strengthening internal structures, reconnecting with grassroots supporters, and preparing strategically for the 2027 general elections.
“Our priority must be delivering good governance to Nigerians and deepening democracy within our party,” he added.
