The President of the Institute of Safety Professionals of Nigeria (ISPON), Dr. Stephen Udezi, has called on Nigerians to adopt a safety-first mindset and always follow best practices. Speaking at the ISPON Lagos State Safety Leadership Summit and the 2025 Induction Ceremony, he emphasized that safety is constantly evolving and must be taken seriously in every sector.

Dr. Udezi praised the media for raising public awareness about safety and stressed that registered ISPON membership is the basic requirement for safety professionals in Nigeria.

He said the institute is working to clean up the profession, promote proper training, and include safety education in schools nationwide. He expressed optimism about the future of safety in Nigeria, despite past setbacks.

Chairman of ISPON Lagos Branch, Mr. Olushola Ogunleye, said leadership at all levels is key to achieving sustainable safety, while ISPON Registrar, Mr. Ben Modebe, noted that new inductees are now officially recognized under Nigerian law.

The summit brought together experts, leaders, and new members committed to improving safety standards across the country.
