KADUNA GOV’T REAFFIRMS PEACE COMMITMENT AHEAD OF BYE-ELECTIONS………

By: Safiya Abdulrahim Dabban

The Kaduna State Government has pledged to safeguard lives and property during the August 16 bye-elections. At a joint press briefing, Commissioners Ahmed Maiyaki and Sadiq Mamman Lagos dismissed allegations by the African Democratic Congress (ADC) coalition as attempts to disrupt the polls.

They stressed that INEC is solely responsible for election conduct and assured government support to ensure free, fair, and credible voting. The state’s Attorney General will review ADC’s claims for possible action.

Earlier, ADC leaders accused the government of hiring over 4,000 thugs and diverting ₦30 million from each local council to influence the elections, a claim they say has been reported to INEC and security agencies.
