WIKE CALLS FOR STRONGER JOINT SECURITY TO TACKLE CROSS-BORDER CRIMES

By: Safiya Abdulrahim Dabban

FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, has called on security agencies across the G-7 states to step up joint operations and intelligence sharing to curb rising cross-border crimes threatening Abuja and neighboring states.

Speaking at the G-7 States Technical Committee meeting in Abuja, Wike, represented by FCT Head of Service Grace Adayilo, said kidnappings, banditry, and trafficking demand stronger collaboration and innovative strategies.

He commended security operatives for their sacrifices, stressing that “only coordinated efforts can defeat criminal networks.”

Security chiefs also highlighted recent successes, including the arrest of a Nasarawa-based kidnap syndicate leader, while pledging deeper cooperation in line with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

The G-7 Security Forum, established in 2007, includes the FCT, Niger, Nasarawa, Kogi, Kaduna, Benue, and Plateau states, and serves as a platform for intelligence sharing and joint action against insecurity.
