KANO HISBAH BOARD SETTLES MARITAL DISPUTES, WED’S 3,800 COUPLES

By: Safiya Abdulrahim Dabban

The Kano State Hisbah Board says it resolved over 600 marriage disputes and successfully organized a mass wedding for 3,800 couples in 2024.

Deputy Commander Sheikh Mujahid Aminudeen explained that the Board handled thousands of complaints, settled family disagreements, and recovered more than ₦212 million in upkeep and loan defaults. He said the mass wedding was aimed at curbing immorality, supporting widows, divorcees, and young women, and strengthening family life in the state.

Sheikh Mujahid also noted that Hisbah trained over a thousand guards to improve service delivery, while plans are in place to establish a dedicated training academy. He added that the Board remains committed to promoting justice, morality, and protection of the vulnerable, stressing that its services cover both Muslims and non-Muslims.

He further revealed that Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s administration is working on reforms to strengthen Hisbah, including better welfare for its personnel and the rehabilitation of its headquarters.
