KEYAMO CALLS FOR SPECIAL CONSIDERATION ON AVIATION IN TAX REFORMS

Aviation Minister Festus Keyamo has urged caution in implementing Nigeria’s planned tax reforms, stressing that the aviation sector operates under global standards that prioritize cost recovery over profit.

Speaking at a virtual forum on the new Nigeria Tax Act 2025, he noted that agencies like NCAA, FAAN, and NAMA mainly generate revenue to cover operations, in line with ICAO guidelines.

Keyamo said while tax reform is important, the aviation sector needs special consideration to remain compliant with international standards. Discussions with experts and stakeholders will continue to balance government revenue with industry realities.

The Nigeria Tax Act 2025, which takes effect in January 2026, is expected to reshape tax administration. Stakeholders stressed the need for deeper engagement to understand its impact on aviation businesses.
