Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening grassroots governance by supporting a bill that grants full autonomy to the state’s 44 local government councils.
The bill, already approved by the State Executive Council, will be sent to the House of Assembly for consideration. Governor Yusuf said the law would give councils financial and administrative independence, allowing them to manage resources directly and deliver projects faster.
He stressed that autonomy will boost transparency, accountability, and development, while reducing unnecessary overlaps between state and local governments.
The governor expressed confidence that lawmakers will back the bill, noting that it reflects the people’s aspirations and ensures resources truly serve communities.
