FAAN GOES CASHLESS TO BOOST REVENUE BY 50%

By: Safiya Abdulrahim Dabban

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) says its new cashless policy, Operation Go-Cashless, will raise revenues by 50% at Lagos and Abuja airports.

From September 29, 2025, cash payments at airport gates, car parks, and VIP lounges will be phased out for digital transactions.

FAAN boss Olubunmi Kuku said the move will block leakages, improve accountability, and could grow revenues to 75% as more payment points go digital.

Officials added that the extra funds will be used to upgrade infrastructure and improve passenger experience.

The policy, starting in Lagos and Abuja, will later extend to airports nationwide.
