By: Safiya Abdulrahim Dabban
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has urged Lagosians to remain united and committed to building a stronger Nigeria. Speaking at the 65th Independence Day Parade in Marina, he said true progress can only come when government and citizens work together.
Highlighting his THEMES+ Agenda, the governor assured that no one will be left behind, with focus on social inclusion, youth empowerment, and gender equality. He pointed to initiatives like the Social Register, Ilera Eko health insurance, free education, scholarships, and food subsidies as efforts to ease hardship and uplift the vulnerable.
Sanwo-Olu reaffirmed Lagos’ support for President Bola Tinubu’s vision for Nigeria and cautioned youths against using social media to spread division. He stressed the need for unity, patriotism, and collective responsibility in shaping the nation’s future.
The celebration featured a parade, cake-cutting, and attendance by dignitaries, lawmakers, traditional chiefs, and diplomats.
