OGUNJIMI SEEKS PROFESSIONAL SUPPORT FROM UK ICAN DISTRICT FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF NATIONAL TREASURY ACADEMY, OROZO

The Accountant General of the Federation, Dr. Shemeldeen Babatunde Ogunjimi, has called for professional collaboration and support from the United Kingdom District of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) towards the development of the National Treasury Academy, Orozo.

Dr. Ogunjimi made this appeal while receiving a delegation from the UK ICAN District, led by its current Chairman, Mr. Akintayo Ojo, FCNA, during a courtesy visit to his office in Abuja.

He emphasized the importance of aligning the Academy with global standards and expressed optimism that such collaboration would enhance the capacity of the institution to become a center of excellence in public financial management and accounting.

The Accountant General urged the delegation to bring their wealth of experience and expertise in accounting principles and international best practices to bear on the development of the Academy. He affirmed his commitment to transforming the Academy into a first-class institution for training and capacity development in Nigeria’s public finance sector.

In addition, Dr. Ogunjimi assured the delegation of the participation of Treasury staff in the upcoming UK ICAN Conference scheduled for early March 2026.

In his earlier remarks, the Chairman of the UK ICAN District, Mr. Akintayo Ojo, expressed appreciation to Dr. Ogunjimi for his unwavering support and commitment, which he said had contributed immensely to the District’s achievements.

Mr. Ojo also provided insights into the preparations for the District’s 35th Annual Conference, scheduled to hold in early March 2026, and extended an invitation to the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation to attend the event.
