FG ORDERS UNIVERSITIES TO ENFORCE ‘NO WORK, NO PAY’ POLICY

By: Safiya Abdulrahim Dabban

The Federal Government has directed all Vice Chancellors of federal universities to enforce the “No Work, No Pay” rule for employees who fail to perform their duties.

Minister of Education, Dr. Olatunji Alausa, gave the directive following the Academic Staff Union of Universities’ (ASUU) decision to embark on strike despite repeated appeals for dialogue.

He also ordered Vice Chancellors to conduct a headcount of academic staff, identify those working and those on strike, and withhold salaries of those not on duty.

The National Universities Commission (NUC) has been tasked to monitor compliance and submit its report within seven days.
