The Minister of State for Defence, Dr. Bello Mohammed Matawalle, has received 15 top members of the Zamfara State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who have defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
They were presented to the minister in Abuja by Zamfara APC Chairman, Tukur Umar Danfulani, alongside Senator Tijjani Yahaya Kaura and Alhaji Lawal Liman.
Matawalle described their move as bold and timely, saying it reflects the growing strength and popularity of the APC in Zamfara and across Nigeria. He assured the defectors of equal opportunities and inclusion in the party.
Danfulani praised the new members for their decision, noting that the APC remains united and focused on reclaiming Zamfara in 2027. He dismissed rumours of internal conflict, stressing that the party’s grassroots support continues to expand.
Speaking on behalf of the defectors, Isiyaka M. Dabo said they left the PDP over unfair treatment and were drawn by the leadership of Matawalle and Senator Yari.
The event was attended by several APC leaders and stakeholders.
