Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State has approved the immediate six-month suspension of the Rector and Bursar of Delta State Polytechnic, Ogwashi-Uku.
According to a statement by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Kingsley Emu, the suspension aims to enable an impartial investigation into allegations of financial and administrative misconduct.
The Deputy Rector will act as Rector, while the most senior accountant will serve as Acting Bursar during the suspension period.
The State Assembly had earlier approved the Rector’s suspension before forwarding it to the Governor. The institution has recently been in the spotlight over alleged certificate racketeering, fund mismanagement, and staff protests over unpaid salaries.
