SENATE COMMENDS PRESIDENT TINUBU OVER NIGERIA’S REMOVAL FROM FATF GREY LIST

By: Safiya Abdulrahim Dabban

The Senate has applauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and key anti-corruption agencies for Nigeria’s removal from the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) Grey List, a major boost to the country’s financial image and investor confidence.

Senator Emmanuel Udende, who sponsored the motion, said the delisting shows Nigeria’s strong commitment to global financial integrity and transparency. He attributed the success to the collective efforts of the Executive, Legislature, NFIU, EFCC, ICPC, CBN, and other agencies.

Lawmakers noted that the move will enhance investor confidence, strengthen the naira, and improve cross-border transactions. Senate President Godswill Akpabio urged continued reforms and collaboration to maintain compliance with international financial standards.
