UNIABUJA APPOINTS NEW VICE-CHANCELLOR

The Governing Council of Yakubu Gowon University (formerly University of Abuja) has appointed Professor Hakeem Fawehinmi as the new Vice-Chancellor.
A statement by the Acting Director of Information, Dr. Habib Yakoob, said the appointment takes effect from February 10, 2026, for a single five-year term.
Professor Fawehinmi, a specialist in Clinical Anatomy and Biomedical Anthropology, is currently the Vice-Chancellor of the Nigerian British University, Abia State.
The Council also extended the tenure of the Acting Vice-Chancellor, Professor Mathew Adamu, until Professor Fawehinmi assumes office.
