GROUP URGES GOV. ODOPO TO STOP IBÁJI SUSPENSION CRISIS

Concerned Ibaji Elites have urged Kogi State Governor, Usman Ahmed Ododo, to halt what they describe as an unfair and politically-motivated suspension of the Ibaji Local Government Chairman.
In a statement signed by Dr. MacPherson Ojodale Samson, the group accused the Deputy Speaker of abusing her office and pushing a personal agenda that undermines the will of the Ibaji people. They warned that the House of Assembly’s involvement is deepening division and marginalizing the riverine communities that helped secure the governor’s 2023 victory.
The group said the suspension strips Ibaji of its key political representation, leaving only two Special Advisers from the area despite its vital role as the state’s oil-producing hub. They described the situation as dangerous, unjust, and capable of triggering wider unrest if not corrected.
They appealed to Governor Ododo to intervene swiftly, restore fairness, and prevent further division ahead of the 2027 elections.
