The Anambra State Police Command has arrested 20-year-old Chigbo Umeugokwe for allegedly robbing a shop and defiling a 13-year-old girl.

According to Police PRO Tochukwu Ikenga, the suspect stormed the shop on the 29th of last month with a locally made gun and an axe, using a red polo shirt as a face mask. He allegedly abducted the victim and took her to a nearby bush, where he assaulted her and also stole ₦30,000.

Police operatives, assisted by local security, later arrested him. The recovered items include the weapon, the axe, and the red shirt used as a mask.

Ikenga said the suspect will be charged to court after investigations.
