VP SHETTIMA RETURNS TO ABUJA AFTER HIGH-LEVEL G20 & AU–EU ENGAGEMENTS

By: Safiya Abdulrahim Dabban

Vice President Kashim Shettima is back in Abuja after representing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at major global forums in Johannesburg and Luanda.

He pushed President Tinubu’s message that Africa deserves permanent seats, with veto power, on the UN Security Council, insisting global systems must reflect today’s realities.

He reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to peace, security and democratic governance, urging the EU to build deeper, fairer partnerships with Africa through African-led solutions.

At the G20, he echoed the call for a fairer global financial order, better debt-management structures, local value addition for critical minerals, and ethical global standards for AI.
