FAAN UNVEILS PLAN TO MAKE NIGERIA AFRICA’S LEADING AIR CARGO HUB

By: Safiya Abdulrahim Dabban

FAAN has announced a renewed drive to position Nigeria as the key air cargo hub in Africa. Speaking at a stakeholders’ meeting in Lagos, MD Olubunmi Kuku said Nigeria has the capacity to anchor the continent’s cargo network and connect high-value goods to global markets.

She said FAAN is shifting from isolated operations to deeper collaboration with industry players to fix infrastructure gaps, boost efficiency, improve automation, and raise service standards. The goal is to build a secure and profitable cargo system that supports agriculture, manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, e-commerce, and trade.

With support from Aviation Minister Festus Keyamo, FAAN pledged stronger policies and infrastructure to make Nigeria a strategic cargo gateway for West and Central Africa.
