Abia State Governor Alex Otti has vowed to continue efforts to secure the release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB). During a visit to the Sokoto Correctional Centre, Governor Otti encouraged Kanu to remain calm and assured him that ongoing administrative efforts to secure his freedom remain active despite court rulings.
The Governor expressed satisfaction that the Sultan of Sokoto shares his view on easing tensions and supporting Kanu’s release, acknowledging the IPOB leader as one of his subjects.
Visibly moved, Mazi Kanu thanked Governor Otti for the visit, praising his achievements in Abia State and likening his governance to that of the late Sam Mbakwe. Kanu emphasized his focus on good governance and the welfare of the people, praying for continued guidance for the Governor and his team.
Governor Otti was accompanied by key officials and Kanu’s younger brother, Prince Emmanuel Kanu, highlighting the significance of the visit.
