OPERATION PEACE SHIELD: TROOPS ARREST 3 ARSON SUSPECTS, FOIL VIOLENCE IN TARABA

By: Safiya Abdulrahim Dabban

Troops of the 6 Brigade, Nigerian Army/Sector 3 OPWS, have arrested three suspects linked to the burning of a house in Karim Lamido, Taraba State. The incident happened early Tuesday, 2nd December 2025.

According to Lt. Umar Muhammad, Acting Assistant Director Army Public Relations, the suspects were caught at the scene shortly after the house was set ablaze. Their claims of being security operatives were found to be false during questioning.

The Army says the action was an attempt to worsen existing tensions in the area, but the troops’ quick response prevented a potential communal clash.

The suspects are in custody as investigations continue. Brigadier General Kingsley Uwa commended the troops and assured residents of ongoing efforts to maintain peace, warning that anyone fueling violence will face the law.
