Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has condemned the violent clash between the Bachama and Tsobo communities in Lamurde, Adamawa State, describing the bloodshed as “unacceptable” and calling for immediate government intervention.
In a statement on Facebook, Abubakar expressed deep concern over reports of killings and destruction, including allegations that women protesters were shot by soldiers of the 23rd Brigade, Yola. He stressed that these claims, whether true or denied by the military, require a thorough, independent investigation to ensure justice.
Abubakar urged federal and state authorities to act decisively to protect lives, restore peace, and hold anyone responsible fully accountable. He also called on the communities to embrace dialogue and unity, warning that only mutual respect and conversation can end the crisis.
Extending condolences to affected families, he reaffirmed solidarity with the Bachama people and their traditional ruler, Dr. Daniel Isma’ila Shaga, while emphasizing that gender-based and civilian-targeted violence must not be tolerated.
