IPAC RECOGNISES ONLY INEC-APPROVED PARTY FACTIONS

By: Safiya Abdulrahim Dabban

The Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) has stated that only factions of political parties recognised by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) are acknowledged by the council.

Speaking to journalists in Abuja, IPAC Vice Chairperson, Hajia Zainab Ibrahim, explained that IPAC relates strictly with INEC and works with the official names of party leaders as contained on the commission’s portal.

Hajia Zainab described her emergence as vice chairperson as a boost for gender inclusion, noting that IPAC now has three women in its executive leadership. She said the council would continue to promote dialogue among political parties to strengthen democracy.

She added that IPAC would push for electoral and democratic reforms, uphold internal democracy and transparency, and encourage constructive engagement among both ruling and opposition parties.

She further said IPAC remains committed to inclusivity, with a focus on women, youths and persons with disabilities.
