OTTI RULES OUT FUTURE POLITICAL AMBITIONS AFTER ABIA TENURE

By: Safiya Abdulrahim Dabban

Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has said he will not seek any political office after completing his tenure as governor. He made the clarification while responding to claims linking him to presidential or vice-presidential ambitions following his recent visit to Sokoto over the case of Nnamdi Kanu.

Governor Otti said criticism is part of democracy and stressed that differing opinions do not always reflect the truth. He added that public office holders must know when to step aside after serving the people.

Explaining his visit, the governor said the effort is being handled quietly through administrative and legal channels to avoid jeopardising progress, noting that it would be wrong to remain inactive when there is an opportunity to pursue dialogue and peace.
