TURAKI LED PDP MEETS JONATHAN, SEEKS UNITY AND SUPPORT

By: Safiya Abdulrahim Dabban

Leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), led by National Chairman Dr. Kabiru Tanimu Turaki (SAN), have met with former President Goodluck Jonathan in Abuja as part of efforts to strengthen the party.
The closed-door meeting focused on briefing the former president on recent developments within the PDP and seeking his guidance. Speaking after the meeting, Turaki said Jonathan reaffirmed his loyalty to the party and assured leaders of his continued and increased involvement in PDP activities.

Turaki also addressed issues surrounding the party’s engagement with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), insisting that the commission had recognised the current PDP leadership by monitoring its primaries and initially granting access to its portal. He noted, however, that subsequent actions by INEC had raised concerns, even as the party maintained it had complied with all electoral requirements.

The PDP leadership described the meeting as timely and crucial to ongoing efforts to reposition the party ahead of future elections.
