FIRE GUTS GSSS JALINGO, DESTROYS CLASSROOMS AS COMMISSIONER ASSURES SUPPORT

A fire outbreak has destroyed classrooms and learning materials at the Government Science Secondary School, GSSS, Jalingo, disrupting academic activities in the Taraba State capital.
The incident, which occurred on January 11, was brought under control by school authorities, with no casualties recorded. The inferno damaged key facilities, including an examination hall and several classrooms.
During a visit to the school, the Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Dr. Augustina, expressed concern over the incident and assured students and staff of government support to restore the damaged facilities. She commended the school management for their swift response, which prevented further destruction, and stressed the need to strengthen safety measures in schools.
Investigations into the cause of the fire are ongoing.
