FG REWARDS 12 TEACHERS WITH ₦300M

By: Safiya Abdulrahim Dabban

The Federal Government has rewarded twelve outstanding teachers with over ₦300 million for their professionalism and dedication, at the ongoing Nigeria Teachers’ Summit in Abuja. The beneficiaries were selected through a transparent, merit-based process across the six geo-political zones.

Eleven teachers received ₦25 million each, while the overall best teacher, Mr. Solanke Taiwo from Ogun State, was awarded ₦50 million. He will also get a brand-new car from Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum, and a fully furnished two-bedroom flat from Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun.

Mr. Taiwo described the award as a product of passion, consistency, and commitment to shaping future generations. First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, reaffirmed the government’s resolve to invest in teachers, stressing that quality education is key to national development.

The Minister of Education, Dr. Olatunji Alausa, applauded teachers’ resilience and highlighted ongoing reforms to improve their welfare and capacity, urging participants to focus on outcomes that will positively impact classrooms nationwide. The Nigeria Union of Teachers also called for sustained recognition to boost teachers’ morale.

The summit featured the launch of Edurevamp, a national digital platform for teachers’ training, and brought together educators, stakeholders, and development partners from across the country.
