NNPCL RAISES PETROL PRICE IN LAGOS, ABUJA

By: Safiya Abdulrahim Dabban

NNPC Limited has increased the pump price of petrol to ₦835 per litre in Lagos and ₦839 per litre in Abuja following adjustments across its retail outlets. The new prices reflect an increase of ₦50 in Lagos and ₦20 in Abuja.

The hike comes shortly after the Dangote Refinery raised its ex-gantry price to ₦799 per litre, pushing the pump price at MRS outlets to ₦839 per litre from ₦739.

Despite the increase, the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority says fuel prices may drop over time as competition improves supply. Its CEO, Saidu Mohammed, noted that removing petrol subsidies has allowed market forces to work better, supporting price stability and long-term affordability.
