TINUBU TASKS ACTING IGP DISU TO RESTORE PEACE, BOOST SECURITY

By: Safiya Abdulrahim Dabban

Bola Ahmed Tinubu has charged the Acting Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, to urgently restore peace and strengthen security across the country. The President gave the directive at the State House during Disu’s decoration, following the retirement of Kayode Egbetokun.

Tinubu said Disu’s appointment comes at a critical time, urging him to rebuild public trust, lead with professionalism and prioritise the safety of lives and property. He expressed confidence in Disu’s experience and discipline, noting that tackling banditry, terrorism and other crimes remains central to his Renewed Hope Agenda.

The President also commended Egbetokun for his service to the nation, describing his tenure as a contribution Nigeria appreciates. Disu, in response, thanked Tinubu for the confidence reposed in him and pledged to deliver on the mandate to secure the country.
