KANO STEPS UP FLOOD PREVENTION AHEAD OF RAINY SEASON

By: Safiya Abdulrahim Dabban

The Kano State Government has intensified preparations to prevent flooding ahead of the 2026 rainy season, rolling out measures aimed at protecting lives, property and critical infrastructure.

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf said the state is strengthening early warning systems and implementing proactive environmental measures to reduce flood risks across vulnerable communities.

The government said the initiative builds on successes recorded in previous years and reflects its commitment to disaster prevention, environmental sustainability and climate resilience.

Authorities also urged residents and stakeholders to support ongoing efforts to ensure a safer rainy season across the state.
