The Kano State Government says it has recorded a significant decline in maternal mortality, with deaths related to pregnancy and childbirth dropping by about 45 percent over the last three years.
State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Abubakar Labaran Yusuf, attributed the improvement to increased investment in maternal and child healthcare, expanded access to free medical services, and stronger emergency response systems.
He said the progress reflects the impact of ongoing reforms under the administration of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, aimed at improving healthcare delivery and reducing preventable deaths among women and children.
The commissioner reaffirmed the government’s commitment to strengthening healthcare services and sustaining efforts to improve health outcomes across the state.
