The House of Representatives has called for the establishment of a special security force to protect schools across Nigeria following a fresh wave of kidnappings and attacks on students and teachers.
The lawmakers also urged the Federal Government to strengthen rescue efforts for abducted pupils in Oyo and Borno states, warning that repeated attacks on schools pose a serious threat to education and national security.
The call followed recent abductions of schoolchildren and teachers, including the killing of a teacher in Oyo State, which lawmakers described as alarming and unacceptable.
The House stressed the need for urgent reforms to improve security and ensure the safety of pupils, teachers and educational institutions nationwide.
