Authorities in Odigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State have ordered the immediate closure of all public and private schools following security concerns linked to rising banditry threats.
The directive, issued by the council chairman, Taiwo Adegoroye, is aimed at protecting pupils, students, teachers and other school workers amid growing fears over insecurity.
Candidates currently sitting for national examinations have been exempted from the closure to allow them complete their exams.
The council assured residents that it is working closely with security agencies to strengthen safety across the area, while urging parents and guardians to closely monitor their children.
