US TO MONITOR NIGERIA’S 2027 ELECTIONS, CONGRESSMAN SAYS

By: Safiya Abdulrahim Dabban

The United States will closely monitor Nigeria’s 2027 general elections, US Congressman Riley Moore has said, stressing that the conduct and outcome of the polls will receive close attention from the administration of President Donald Trump.

Speaking in an interview with NoireTV, Moore said Washington remains interested in supporting credible elections in Nigeria. He also disclosed that the US Congress is considering legislation that could strengthen oversight of its relationship with Nigeria, including conditions on security assistance and concerns over religious freedom.

Moore added that he would continue engaging the Trump administration on Nigeria-related issues as discussions on the proposed measures progress.
