By: Safiya Abdulrahim Dabban

The Kano State Police Command has impounded 81 vehicles for displaying covered, defaced or improperly fixed number plates as part of its ongoing Operation Clean Plates across the state.

Commissioner of Police Ibrahim Adamu Bakori said the enforcement exercise is aimed at improving public safety and preventing criminals from using unidentifiable vehicles to evade arrest. He added that the affected motorists will be prosecuted in line with the law.

The command also disclosed that three other vehicles were intercepted under suspicious circumstances and are currently under investigation, stressing that the operation will continue until full compliance with vehicle registration regulations is achieved.
