The Acting Media Information Officer of the task force, Captain Tamuno Sinivie, disclosed this in a statement following an attack by suspected bandits on November 3, 2026.
He said troops responded to a distress call, engaged the attackers and forced them to abandon their captives and flee.
Two victims were rescued during the initial operation, while seven others were later freed during follow-up operations in Sabon Tunga and Binoni villages.
The nine rescued victims have been handed over to the District Head of Unashi for reunion with their families.
The task force reaffirmed its commitment to tackling banditry and urged residents to provide credible information to security agencies to support ongoing operations.
