SPEAKER OF THE CROSS RIVER STATE HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY, MR ELVERT AYAMBEM HAS BEEN REMOVED FROM OFFICE 22-05-24
By Sadiq Aminu The Speaker of the Cross River State House of Assembly, Mr Elvert Ayambem has been removed from office over allegations of gross financial misconduct leveled against him by seventeen out of the twenty-five members of the assembly.
According to the removal notice read to newsmen in Calabar by the member representing Calabar South state Constituency 1 Effiong Ekarika, Mr Ayambem was also alleged to comprised Legislative regulatory procedures during plenaries of the house.
Meanwhile, his removal came while the state Governor Senator Bassey Otu was on official engagement away from the state.
A new speaker is yet to be elected.
