ASUP ISSUES A 15-DAY ULTIMATUM TO THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT TO ADDRESS BOTTLENECKS RAISED BY THE UNION                                                                                   04-10-24

By Sadiq Aminu                                                                The Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics, ASUP, has issued a 15-day ultimatum to the federal government to address bottlenecks raised by the Union.

Addressing newsmen in Abuja, the President of ASUP, Comrade Shamnah Kpanja said the ultimatum would commence on Monday, October 7, 2024.

Comrade Kpanja explained that failure of the government to address the non-review of the suspended schemes of service for polytechnics and the non-release of conditions of service, the union threatened to shutdown down Polytechnics.

The President of ASUP also cautioned the National Board for Technical Education, NBTE, from meddling with admission of students for Higher National Diploma, HND in Polytechnics across the country.

Comrade Kpanja seeks the release of the second tranche of the NEEDS Assessment intervention for public polytechnics and Colleges of Technology, immediate implementation of the approved 25/35% salary review across all public polytechnics and the payment of the accrued arrears among others.
