SOUTHERN CAMEROON APPEALS FOR UNITED NATION INTERVENTION TO END CONFLICT                                                                                                                               06-10-24

By Sadiq Aminu                                                             The leader of the Ambazonian nation in southern Cameroon, Dr Samuel Sako, has appealed to the United Nations to come to aid of his people amidst what he described as persecution by the leadership of Paul Biya.

Dr. Sako made the appeal during a virtual world press conference.

He explained that the people of southern Cameroon were not criminals but only struggling for their freedom from oppression and inequality.

Dr Sako accused the international community of neglecting the genocide being carried out on the people of southern Cameroon and appealing for immediate intervention to save the lives of those still struggling for their freedom.

He expressed optimism that the UN would listen to their cry one day.

The leader also explained that the southern Cameroon movement was open to dialogue and would continue to tore the same path, but unfortunately,  the cameroun side under the leadership of Paul Biya withdrew from several attempted peace talks.

He, however, declared that they would continue to fight for the freedom of their people  and would resist unlawful arrests by the Biya led government.

Dr. Sako said arrests should only be made when the laws were violated and based on political differences.

He lamented that over fourty thousand southern Cameroonians are now refugees in Nigeria as a result of the crisis, and many have also died.
