INITIATIVE FOR ACTIVE PARTICIPATION OF PWDs IN ADDRESSING CLIMATE CHANGE LAUNCH

‎            By Sadiq Aminu                                                     An initiative to encourage and ensure active participation of People Living with Disabilities, PWDs in finding solutions to Climate and environmental challenges has been launched.
‎    At the launch of a Global Disabilities Green Initiative in Abuja, the Chairman House of Representatives Committee on Disability Matter, Dr. Bashiru Dawodu, emphasized the need for all initiatives concerning PWDs to be translated into action to address the plights and concerns of the PWDs.
‎    Dr. Dawudu represented by the member of the Committee Mr. Moses Fayinka pointed out that the tenth National Assembly is committed to full implementation of Discrimination Against Persons with Disability Prohibition Act.
‎    The Founder of Global Disabilities Green Initiative Angelina Ugben who explained that the Initiative operates in eleven countries across the world, said they have commenced tree Planting and other measures aimed at addressing global climate change.
‎    Angelina Ugben emphasized that as Disability Community, they are committed to supporting policies and Programmes of government geared towards combating environmental and climate challenges.
‎ Minister of  Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction Professor Nentawe  Yilwatda represented by a Deputy Director in the Ministry, Mr. Garba Magaji said with the Initiative PWDs will not be excluded from the platforms aimed at finding solution to the global climate changes.‎
